Hello!
Today I would like to present an article on education 4.0. We have been dealing with the 4th generation industry for nearly 10 years, Which is so automated and computerized that there is a lack of suitably qualified staff to handle it. School 4.0 is to be the answer to deficiencies in the 4th generation industry.
Please read the article below and watch two videos from the YT website about education 4.0, and then give short answers to the following questions:
1. What is education 4.0?
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.

1. What is 4.0?
2. Education 4.0 – transforming the future of education (through advanced technology)
1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteIn December 2017, the Horizon Report 2017 K-12 Edition was published, which includes expected directions of changes in education and key trends in education. They were:
- coding and programming,
- development of the concept of education in the STEAM education model (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics)
- transformation of school spaces,
- disseminating the culture of innovation in schools,
- developing the concept of deep thinking.
In 2018, PFR and Google published "Competences of the Future". Here, among the most important competences of the future are technical and digital competences, cognitive flexibility, creativity and the ability to solve complex problems.
It follows that the challenges facing Education 4.0. are to provide students with access to innovative technologies that will enable the development of future education competences.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
The most important elements on which to base and use the entire teaching process are students' involvement in the Learning process. According to this principle, the known teaching model of the so-called "reverse class" works. The concept of inverted classroom teaching is based on the student's needs, thus increasing student autonomy and the Include level in the lesson. In addition, available direct access to technological technology, Students face the opportunity to acquire new skills that can be used in the future.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
Today, during a pandemic, every parent or student came into contact with school 4.0. All learning is carried out remotely. But I don't have a sentence on this topic yet.
Thank you very much for your opinion on this subject. I'm glad you noticed the report and the most important trends in education of the future. It is true that we are currently dealing with 4.0 education through, for example, distance learning. I would like to ask you for a link to the report. I am mainly interested in the computerization aspect of the school.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0 is a desired approach to learning that aligns itself with the emerging fourth industrial revolution. This industrial revolution focuses on smart technology, artificial intelligence, and robotics; all of which now impact our everyday lives.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
The world is constantly changing. Skills that were desired a few/odd years ago are not very popular today. What is more, new positions are appearing on the labour market, which are desirable, so education must also adapt to the labour market.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
I think that every school tries to be modern and react to changes in the world, but I don't have kids so it's hard to answer me if childrens learn someting new in school.
Thank you very much for your reply. In fact, an important aspect of teaching 4.0 is the preparation of future generations for living and functioning in a society dominated by industry 4.0. It is worth paying attention to changes that are constantly taking place and have an increasing impact on us.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0. is to ensure that students have access to innovative technologies that will enable them to develop the educational competences of the future. It is primarily about investing in innovative technologies and developing key competences that will enable students to adapt to the changing face of the new generation of schools.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Modern times are characterized by great technological progress, especially in the field of communication devices, so-called communicators. The rapid development of digital technology has made many changes in the private and professional life of the whole society. It has also influenced changes in the area of family life, making revolutionary changes in the way family relationships are built and the way parental care is provided. Multimedia has become an important tool for raising and educating the youngest generation. Recent times have shown how important it is to develop this technology.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
Unfortunately, I haven't met with this form of education, but If I had been studied in this in this way(Education 4.0), I obviously woudl have liked it.
Thank you for your opinion. Technological development significantly affects all areas of life. I think that the invention of the internet was a milestone, which made it possible to transfer life to the virtual world and all life. Including education, services and even work. Whether we want to or not, we have to adapt to it and learn to take full advantage of the benefits of industry 4.0 without forgetting about security and ourselves.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0 will cater to the need of Industry 4.0 enabling the workforce and machines to align to explore new possibilities. It will deploy the potential of digital technologies, open-sourced content and personalised data of this globally connected and tech-driven world. And also it will create a blueprint for the future of learning – from school-based learning to learning at the workplace.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
As technology integration in specific domains facilitates more efficiency; the education curriculum will now accommodate more skills that require human knowledge and personal interaction. This will result in more emphasis on imparting field-specific knowledge to the students within the existing courses. This means that schools will now provide more opportunities for students to obtain real-world skills that are relevant to the prospecting job opportunities. Additionally, computers will also be used for all kinds of statistical analysis – describing and analysing data and predicting future trends. Education 4.0 will train students to apply theoretical knowledge and use human reasoning to examine the patterns and predict trends.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
I've never heard of this idea before. However, I think it is right and looking at the current events in the world, it may be implemented even faster than we can assume.
Thank you for opinion. I agree with you regarding the need for schools 4.0. It is necessary for living and functioning in a new society based on continuous development and learning. The school is slowly changing its learning style from the so-called "Herbartowska school" based on the traditional teaching model to a modern school in which learning rather than teaching dominates.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEverything in the world is developing, and education is no exception, so Education 4.0 is an updated education that meets the requirements of modern society. Unfortunately, in most countries the government is responsible for education, which means updating it is less flexible than the market could correlate. Education 4.0 will bias towards greater adoption of IT technology and longer self-learning time.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Because education will further adjust to the student, giving him the opportunity to study independently, at a time favorable to him, as well as giving a choice of areas of interest to him.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
Unfortunately, I have not met, but I think that because of the global pandemic, all schools became a little 4.0
Thank you very much for your feedback. I agree with you that it is mostly the market that decides how to prepare the young generation. Industry 4.0 contributes to the emergence of 4.0 schools preparing students for functioning in a dynamically developing and information society.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0 is providing students with access to innovative technologies that will enable the development of future education competences. In education 4.0 we used materials given by inteligent systems, programs. We use Internet as a source of information to resolve problems and create inteligent solutions.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Technology is growing fast. Today we use hardware that is inteligent. Young people need to know how proper use this hardware to improve performance at work. It is important to efficiency use knowledge available in Internet and given us by inteligent devices.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
Unfortunately, I have never met school 4.0. I have heard about intelligent classes that used multimedia boards and computers.
Thank you for the statement. Education is one of the few areas that should respond very quickly to changes in society. Currently, virtually every enterprise accepting a new employee immediately after graduation or trade school implements it at the beginning by learning on the systems or devices it uses. A young man is not 100% prepared to work in a learned profession, as technological, mental, environmental and other changes occur very quickly.
Delete1. Education 4.0 is education that enables you to adapt to the current fourth industrial revolution. This revolution covers areas such as artificial intelligence and robotics. Education 4.0 allows you to prepare such a curriculum for students to learn as much as possible about the fourth industrial revolution, so that in the future they can use the acquired knowledge on the labor market. In addition, this form of education can be used anywhere, anytime, because e-learning tools are used that provide the opportunity for independent learning.
ReplyDelete2. Education 4.0 focuses on personalized learning for each student. More ambitious people perform more difficult tasks, weaker students perform simpler tasks. This allows everyone to learn at their own pace. Teachers can thus identify and address student strengths and weaknesses in the right direction. This approach means that instead of learning everything the same, already at this stage we are able to train a specialist who is well-versed in a given topic. In addition, the student can choose the tools and techniques to acquire knowledge, including blended learning, BYOD. Economy and technology are constantly evolving, which is why young people need to adapt to changes. Currently, there is a lot of work in all project teams, the new form of education will also allow them to acquire organizational skills, time management skills, and cooperation skills that they will be able to apply in their future work.
3. Unfortunately, I hear about it for the first time. However, I like its assumptions and approach to teaching. I think that such a system would improve the level of education in our country and students would not complain that they have to learn something that they will not use (according to them). They will only focus on their strengths and train themselves primarily in them.
Thank you very much for your statement. I agree with you regarding the adaptation of curricula aimed at the industrial revolution 4.0 or special teaching of artificial intelligence and robotics. School 4.0 is intended to support the learning process in such a way as to help it achieve the greatest possible success. Detecting the strengths and weaknesses of the student is also important because in this way you can adapt your individual curriculum very quickly.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0 responds to the needs of “industry 4” which focuses at smart technology, artificial intelligence and robotics. Each of the mentioned technologies impacts our everyday lives. The students should be prepared for the world where cyber-physical systems are everywhere. The education 4.0 is based on creating trained, qualified professionals who are ready for globalized and digital-driven world of work. I found the features of education 4.0: anywhere and anytime, flexible delivery, peers and mentors, why/where not what/how, practical application, modular and projects, evaluated and examined etc.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Technology has become an indispensable part of our lives, also in the field of education. Events related to the coronavirus pandemic have shown and continue to show that not everyone is capable of technology, and that not all education-dedicated technologies are prepared for it. Pupils and students should know how to use digital technologies that can improve their learning performance and make learning more enjoyable. From year to year the world is becoming more and more digital and showing students how to use technology is very important, because if they know how to search and use new technology, then it will become a normal thing for them like going to the store which they will use often.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
I have never met school 4.0 before. Currently, the world is struggling with a coronavirus pandemic, including Poland, and therefore schools and colleges have switched to remote learning. As you can hear on the radio or television, not every student and teacher coped with this new situation. I think that the situation that is currently cannot be said that this is a school 4.0 but undoubtedly it is a small step in this direction and maybe after the pandemic will be taken steps to this end.
Thank you for your response. Together with the development of industry should take place and the development of education. Both of these elements arise from each other and overlap. In fourth generation education, it is important that knowledge transfer is personalized according to the needs of the individual. Of course, it is also worth considering the local economy (if we prepare experts directed to a specific area).
ReplyDelete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteFrom my perspective, it's a buzzword for a modern learning-approach used by educational theorists. It describes a novel approach for learning methods and the subject itself.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
This is the world that we are creating for them, and they should be prepared for living and functioning in that world. We are creating new job vacancies that require a specific set of skills, and we (as the society) should bake it with new types of lectures. Just like technical schools are doing by the last dozens of years, creating new faculties near to the industry requirements.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
No. Education in Poland that I met was based on the Prussian education system (preferably: school 1.0). Maybe the situation is different in other countries? You mentioned that the current situation forces the usage of e-learning methods, and this is an example of 4.0. But e-learning was introduced with the term "information society," a post-modern type of society, years before education 4.0 (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/261424758_Information_society_and_e-learning).
Thank you very much for your statement. In fact, education in my time at school was mainly based on the Herbart school, where everything needed (so-called key) was given as if on a tray. You had to forge it, pass it and forget it. However, social changes require that the new generation going to work be at least partly prepared to perform a given job. It is widely known that virtually every workplace initially teaches a new employee the principles of operation and functioning in the enterprise, and familiarizes them with the devices, their operation, calibration and maintenance.
DeleteEducation 4.0 is the education incorporating modern technologies like Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Smart robots etc with focus on using acquired knowledge in practice.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to prepare young people for living in the world of industrial technology 4.0 for at least two reasons: industries need highly qualified manpower in new professions; they must be capable of adapting to and using new developments.
My friend teaches at "Bednarska Szkoła Realna", it seems like a 4.0 school. I've heard that as one of school projects students created remote light switches that where installed in the whole building. By created I mean they've designed circuits, made a working prototype and then outsourced the production to China (on a small scale). They're also make autonomous drones etc.
Thank you very much for your answer and interesting examples of how to use 4.0 school in practice. Today, a lot of things are done using computers and I do not mean remote work, just that we are now living in the Internet of Things (IoT). You can connect virtually any home device, smart home, autonomous vehicles to the internet. All this affects us and at the same time forces us to adapt to the new reality. That is why education 4.0 has such an impact on our economy.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to be an update to current education systems, where new IT technologies somehow will change everything. I'm not that sure it's possible though. We are doing the revolution in learning at lest for a hundred years now, and it's still the same old story. We have a new media to use, but no idea how to use those. It's a bit as if we were dreaming of return to "master/apprentice" model -- which obviously does not scale -- using AI and robotics. I don't believe it will work: master/apprentice requires full attention from both the master and the apprentice, it can't be faked with a machine.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Well, that is the world they will be living in. The thing is we don't know what it will be, or if it'll be the same for all.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
No, I haven't probably. Maybe some glimpses into what is possible, but that's it - just the glimpses.
Thank you very much for your feedback. I agree with you as to the fact that there are professions that the machine can't teach, and we won't be able to pass on all the knowledge using elerning. Because it's best to learn from a specialist who can correct our mistakes on a regular basis.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteOk, to make a long story short: the authors of the article believe that Education 4.0 refers to a period in which digital transformation and innovation started to dominate in education as in many other fields.
Educational institutions should provide the education needed for such professions as
cybersecurity specialist, machine learning specialist, information systems administrator, application developer, cloud computing manager, IoT architect, blockchain engineer, artificial intelligence specialist, data analyst, health practitioner and instructional designer.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
To be honest, I don't believe in education 4.0, at least not in the near future - so everyone will suddenly switch to professions related to technology, artificial intelligence and data analysis. I don’t buy it.
Just not everyone can be a programmer or analyst.
People need transport, food, clothes, so other jobs are needed too.
Of course, there is a lack of specialists in new technologies, but in an era of pandemics where 40 million people lose their jobs in the US, even the IT market will not need 40 million "IT specialists".
By the way, there are already countries producing massively "cheap IT specialists" and more than one company wanting to save money has got a taste of 4.0 education where everyone can become an IT specialist.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0?
At universities such as PJATK or UMCS we run classes on machine learning, big data, programming web and mobile applications. Knowledge useful as much as possible in Brave new IT world :)
Thank you for your extensive statement. I agree that not everything can be machine taught and replace a human being. There are professions and specialties in which a machine or artificial intelligence cannot cope. It is important to find a balance between IT professionals and traditional employees producing food, clothing, etc. We can still improve IT systems, but until you can build a fully artificial mind thinking like a real man, you will not be able to talk about the full success of the industry over ordinary hand work human.
Delete1. What is education 4.0?
ReplyDeleteEducation 4.0 has the potential of digital technologies, open sourced content, and the new humanity of the globally-connected world. Responds to the needs of ‘Industry 4.0’, where machine and man align to enable new possibilities. It’s establishes a blueprint for the future of learning from childhood to schooling, to learning in the workplace, to playing a better role in the society. Education 4.0 is an education revolution that is flexible and tailor-made and is taught by teachers who become mentors to their students. It gives the workforce of tomorrow the tools to become active lifelong learners and is a self-sustaining model for education.
2. Why is it so important in the 4th generation education to prepare the young people for living and functioning in the world of industrial technology 4.0?
Education 4.0 is a new experience-based education system that uses digital technologies instead of the rote-based system and responds to the needs of the new world through personalized education. This system, which envisions the training of new generations to meet the needs of the Industry 4.0, brings together technology, individuality and discovery-based learning.
3. Have you ever met school 4.0? If so, please share your opinion.
No I haven’t but I’m really interested in it.
Thank you for your opinion. Fourth generation education will be the future and will be indispensable. It cannot be concealed that some of its manifestations can already be seen in the form of, for example, remote classes, interesting lessons conducted in an unusual way. Of course, as I mentioned earlier are specialties that can not be taught only remotely. The best results are obtained using blended learning.
