We are ready for 5G! What does this mean for us? Will the IT industry change so much when the 5G is launched? What do you think about 5G?
I have read the article https://venturebeat.com/2019/03/31/the-convergence-of-5g-and-ai-a-venture-capitalists-view/ and in connection with it a few questions:
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all this is not scientific article, so I have some reserves to it. 5G is a topic very well know to me and with all my knowledge I am absolutely against it. It is proven to have tragic influence on humans health, but of course money is more important than that…
To answer your question, I think autonomous vehicles will work and they seems to work for a while now. Still there is a room for much of improvement and testing must be done. But I truly believe that in about 5 years we will see such vehicles as a norm.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I have mixed feelings about autonomous cities, I went to Dubai and wanted to check the “Systainable city of future” called Masdar and after long and hard way to get there I was informed that the project has fallen long ago of course for financial reasons. I think that many people will not be on hand, that many things that we pay for can be obtained for free, because they will lose on it. Of course, I would like such cities to exist and I am curious if these projects will come to life.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I can not answer this question, but I really hope that 5G will not come into effect, or at least a technology will be created to protect us from the effects of its introduction.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
I think that it is primarily an advertising gimmick, in Poland it is still far from the total introduction of this technology, but everywhere I see billboards Play brand advertising complete nonsense - 5G-ready service, which does not give anything absurd, except to attract naive customers.
Yes, I realize that this is not a scientific article, but as you have noticed, it raises quite significant new elements of our future life. I think that the impact of 5G on the human body will not last long for a scientific article. I wanted to raise this topic because, like you, I think that the current ads are tricks aimed at encouraging naive customers to what does not exist yet. On the other hand, it seems that the introduction of 5G in Poland is inevitable.
DeleteI would like to thank you for an interesting commentary, though not for the scientific article.
"5G is a topic very well know to me and with all my knowledge I am absolutely against it. It is proven to have tragic influence on humans health, but of course money is more important than that… " - that's interesting, may I ask you about papers about that subject? To be honest, I didn't know that.
Delete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteYes, such cars already exist. I think that there will be more and more of them. Of course, we will have to wait for it in Poland until prices fall.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I don't know. Maybe in the future there will be more of them but I'm afraid it may be an expensive solution. I suspect that costs will exceed expectations and unfortunately such cities will not appear.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
It's hard for me to understand this question. As far as I understand it, in my opinion, this will not change a lot. To implement 5G - as a new technology - current infrastructure and large financial resources will be needed. I doubt that a start-up or a new operator can handle it.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
Personally, I think that they will be none or negligible. As I wrote, the costs of implementation of new technology are always high, and potential profits may be due to new customers acquisition and it is a completely different matter. On the other hand, customers also need devices that support 5G. To sum up, it will not be so quick, simple and obvious...
Yes, it may not be quick and obvious. But it seems to be inevitable. You're right. Launching 5G is just the beginning. We will need to replace all the equipment especially telephones. It will not be cheap for us. It will not be cheap for telecom operators. It's not possible to run 5G on the current ICT infrastructure. Thanks!
Delete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteOf course, such vehicles already exist. At the moment it is not yet a big scale, but with time there will be more and more of them, and the development of technologies such as 5G can only support their expansion.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
5G promises to connect everything around us to a network that offers the speed, responsiveness and reach to unlock the full capabilities of technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. In addition to supplying the final piece in the puzzle for self-driving cars, 5G will enable real-time participation in live concerts and gaming. It is inevitable that more and more devices will require communication with each other to interact, which is associated with the creation of more and more smart cities.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I think that the introduction of 5G will be based on the modernization of the existing infrastructure and not on the creation of a completely new one. It will probably be taken care of by the current biggest players on the market.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
During the transitional period, I think that the prices of services related to Internet access will increase as funds will be needed for modernisation. However, I think that in the end, we will all benefit from this, and we will be even more reluctant to use the wired internet.
But can't modernize, because other BTS must be. So for operators of the "biggest players" it will be a big expense from scratch. Construction of the entire new infrastructure - a shock.
DeleteI meant more that they are already in place and can only install new devices.
DeleteYes but, their cost at this moment is reportedly disproportionate to the planned profit. Will it pay off for them?
Delete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteIn the way of replacement 4G LET modems on board? I think that in the larger cities that would work, however on rural areas there would be a problem with coverage, so I think that they cannot depend only on that way of communication.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I think that the concept is interesting. However, the implementation on a larger scale would depend on the results of the Masdar City evaluation.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verizon?
Probably it will be an opportunity for existing suppliers, if only they would be able to invest a considerable amount of money in the BTS, license and infrastructure.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
In my opinion, it could make a peak of income in the moment of its introduction into suppliers offers. However, they will lower its prices during the time (just like it was with the LTE).
Yes you are right. The problem is that it can be big. The launch of autonomous vehicles outside the urban area is a challenge.
DeleteI agree the price must fall.
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteThis question is probably not up to date. Other companies prove that vehicles CAN, and some of them are already fully autonomous.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I think that it's just too expensive idea to make many of autonomous cities. We should also remember that cities is very "complicated organism". I don't have the foggiest idea if any system could handle that solution.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
New technology (5G) connection will connect every device each other to increase the speed of transfer. I think that it wouldn't allow new suppliers, but generate new solutions for nowadays problems which will be better and faster.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
Hard to say. For sure number of necessary network devices will decrease so that the first point where they will have bigger profit.
I can't find any other profits for them for now, but I have to say that not so far was made 4G standard. Not everyone use it but the 5G standard has already appeared. The point is that we could don't really know what to do with new 5G standard and after a year or two someone will improve it and make new 6G standard...and again and again.
Of course, there are vehicles, but all manufacturers are waiting for 5G to take full advantage of them. As for profits, it's also hard for me to prophesy ;-) It was a question in the style of "whether the fish will catch". Yes, I think 6G is the future !!!
Delete6G...that's it! Faster,better,stronger :D!
DeleteWe will see after two/three years... ;)
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteIt might seem to work in controlled environment, or most of the time when deployed in real world, but I'm skeptic - there are so many unexpected things that can go wrong, at the times like this, when life is at the stake, the system will mostly fail. Also, humans are not fully aware how much brain is fusing data from different senses, historical data, and cause-effect model of the world, working out what outcome is probable.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I don't think so, there are no incentives. It looks good on the paper maybe or in movies like "Deep Space Nine" where - for some unknown reason - all entities cooperate rather than compete.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I think the backbone will be so expensive so new suppliers would be just virtual ones, using infrastructure provided by very few suppliers.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
I wouldn't count on much, there is only this much money in the system and it can't be extracted at will. Like the dream of Disney to start its own streaming service to get more profit than when cooperating with Netflix, while there is only certain amount of money people are willing to spend on entertainment. The disappointment will be bitter.
Intriguing. Especially it's about Disney. You may be right about the means of entertainment.
Delete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteThe autonomous vehicles already exist. I do not see the autonomous vehicles in Poland, but when I visited USA, I saw. In my opinion, the autonomous vehicles will appear in more significant numbers within several years in such countries as USA, Japan and China. Unfortunately I suppose that the autonomous vehicles will not be popular even within 10 years due to their costs – most of people cannot afford them. Development of the 5G is able to support the increasing the number of autonomous vehicles. It will allow to expand areas where vehicles are available.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
The autonomous cities are amazing me. It is something that the people in twentieth century could not even imagine. The 5G is very promising in developing this kind of cities. In my opinion creating the autonomous cities will be very expensive so the new cities will appear in the future but not so fast as the autonomous vehicles. Certainly, the new possibilities of 5G may lead to wider spread of the Internet of things.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I do not know but I suppose that just like in others fields the giant companies create the trends and they are leaders. The AT&T or Verizon are one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world so they define trends in the field of telecommunication.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
I think I am not able to correctly answer your question because I do not know either about 5G marketing or about the profits the companies launching the 5G are going to gain. According to the information I found in the Internet , this technology requires the modernization of the existing networks so at first the suppliers have to invest their money to expand the 5G and after look for the possibilities how to increase the profits. Anyway, I saw some billboards even in Poland, where I was able to read “We are ready for 5G”.
However, I unleashed a storm in the 5G case. That was the assumption. I'm glad that it worked. Your long statements show that it worked. despite one of the first posts, it's not a scientific title. Thank you !
Delete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work? With 5G, vehicles can all be connected to each other and to the city. It will change the way connected vehicles operate, sharing messages between vehicles and infrastructure almost instantaneously. Vehicles talking to each other via a cloud server is one part of what 5G can offer.
ReplyDelete2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
Cities around the globe are adding technology to improve environmental, financial and social aspects of urban life. 5G will serve as the foundation for small-cell networks that will power the next generation of wireless network infrastructure in a city. 5G has the ability to help cities do more with the same amount of budget. Smart city with 5G, there are several layers that can be added to something as simple as a smart streetlight. A 5G-connected streetlight with a video camera or gunshot detection sensor will give information to public safety officials so that they can respond faster. Video analytics can be quickly assessed and AI can be added on top of that to make the city a safer place.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
Industry 4.0 show us already that there is a place for improvements and inventions. New suppliers can compete with fresh ideas and new way of thinking.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
Never in the history of the mobile phone has there been so much hype about a new technology ahead of its launch than there is with 5G. Next generation of 5G technology which will not only replace 4G, but will also replace the need for wired broadband services will give opportunity to sell new servicess to mobile operators, smart cities ect. Suppliers will need to develop strategies for 5G to cope with this expected growth. They will also need to explore more alternative approaches, such as network sharing (the joint building of new 5G networks) and new revenue models.
Yes, more and more cool statements. As you can see, each of you has a really different approach to 5G. I am curious today how everything will work.
DeleteAutonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteI believe that autonomous cars will only make sense if they are all there. An example.
Now the autonomous car sees only what is in front of it, behind it and on the sides. Imagine that the system changes and instead of looking at the world through the cameras on the car, the car looks at the WHOLE environment in real time through a system of super-sensitive sensors. You drive such a car, the car sees a herd of roe deer (infrared), the existence of which you do not even realize. It analyzes that deer are 50 meters away from the road more is safe, but when they run towards the road or are close by, the car signals it, automatically slows down and that's it. The same goes for example for pedestrian crossings. You can't even see it from behind the turn, but the car already knows that there are 10 people on it and you should stop. In this version of reality, if someone is already standing and the transition to red, the car "knows" that they have red and noromatically drives, if someone still comes out on the road, there is no point in doing anything, because it is his problem. It's a pedestrian who breaks the rules and there's nothing to think about. The car may try to react, but if it comes to a situation in which it will have to choose between a pedestrian or another vehicle that is driving fully correctly, it will choose a pedestrian. Paradoxically, if all cars were equipped with such a system, the number of accidents would decrease to almost zero and those single incidents resulting from idiots who walk like rams ahead would be of little importance for the overall assessment of the situation.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I believe that autonomous towns and cities will be able to resolve the following issues: existing car parks will be able to accommodate up to 60% more cars than at present, thanks to greater precision in manoeuvring the autonomous car and, consequently, less parking space required. There will also be no need for lifts and stairs for today's drivers leaving their cars in multi-storey car parks: the vehicles will look for a parking space alone, without the need for the owner to be present. This will make many of today's parking lots completely redundant and free up space for any use. Automatyczne prowadzenie znajdzie wkrótce zastosowanie nie tylko w samochodach osobowych. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
The more independent suppliers of other infrastructure, the better. This is very well illustrated by the PLAY network. When this network entered the Polish market, the prices of calls fell significantly.
How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
At the end of last year, the Play telecommunications network had 12.29 million customers (14% more than in the previous year), 47.3% of whom used subscription tariffs. The revenues of the network operator amounted to PLN 4.39 billion, by 18% more than in the previous year, while revenues from users increased by 21% to PLN 3.52 billion. So I think that for all networks, this may be a 10-fold increase
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with us.

1. Already, there are many autonomous vehicles. If I'm not wrong, Google uses just such vehicles to create a database for Google Maps. From the point of view of an ordinary user such vehicles will not be available for long, due to their high cost. But maybe in the near future, we will not have to drive cars ourselves, only everything will be done by artificial intelligence for us.
ReplyDelete2. I think that the development of 5G technology will allow the development of more such cities. These are expensive projects, but on a very large scale, very profitable. The comfort of living in such a city probably would be high. Safety will also increase. In addition, sound management of urban resources would reduce energy consumption. At present, the largest and most-favored cities in the world have the best chance of introducing such solutions.
3. As always, everything depends on the needs of the market. It is known that hardly anybody can compete with the giants of a given industry, but there will always be room for new, smaller companies with innovative ideas that will attract new clients to their niche.
4. It's a very difficult question. As with the introduction of any new technology, the costs of changes to currently used devices, networks etc. can be huge. The question is whether the interest in the new technology will be big and whether the expectations will not exceed the results. Rash actions in this direction may lead to the crisis of many large companies. Not every society, unfortunately, can afford to constantly follow the prevailing technological trends.
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteI think yes. Nowadays companies test such vehicles. The 5G could improve controlling such vehicles and help analyzing data to prevent car fails. Many companies could start building such vehicles and in the nearest future we could used it in smart cities.
I found some information about availability of such vehicles:
https://www.auto-swiat.pl/wiadomosci/multimedia/samochody-autonomiczne-moga-byc-w-europie-szybciej-niz-nam-sie-wydaje/3dsp6fr
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I think probably yes but 5G it’s one milestone for make it happens. Smart cities need many devices connected with network and implement high level security to prevent accidents eg. which not properly working light traffic. This all costs money. Probably in other countries it will be much faster than in Poland.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I think yes but we will see when 5G will start working. It could improve proces of changing cities into smart cities. Many companies investigating in smart solutions could compete which each others and that could results cheaper price.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
It’s heavy to answer this question but probably many companies that offer devices compatible with 5G will increase its profits.
Thanks, but I think that Google does not use autonomous vehicles (only and exclusively) because it would not be possible in the Polish reality. I saw these trips several times and the driver was behind the wheel :-D
DeleteIn the context of autonomous cars, I'm not sure why 5G plays any role here. I don't think it will ever be centralized system which would require simultaneous communication between numerous of agents or that a single car will ever have to communicate with a network of other cars thus requiring very fast internet connection.
ReplyDeleteAs for smart cities, similarly to the case of autonomous cars, having centralized system controlling millions of devices sounds like a poor idea. I think that speed of the internet connection isn't a real factor hindering further developments toward real smart cities.
The same comment as above but published from the right account :)

Only that all manufacturers of autonomous vehicles are waiting for 5G just because the vehicles are able to react quickly.
DeleteToday's 4G is supposedly? too slow ...
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteYes,of course they will. Such vehicles already exist and with time there will be more and more of them. Of course, for the time being they will be available for the richest, so we won't see them in our beautiful country in the nearest future.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I'm not sure if autonomous cities is what people really need. Of course, they are very interesting from scientific and sociological point of view, but too many people can loose too much, and in the end it's all about money and power, so I don't think we can expect them to appear in the nearest future.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I don't know. It's quite possible, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
Honestly, I have no idea.
Thanks for honesty. As I wrote earlier ... it's such a sneak ;-) Although we all know almost everything about 5G, this discussion showed how else we see what looks so familiar and simple to us.
Deletedear Michal,
ReplyDeletemany thanks for interesting article.
1. Autonomous vehicles have bright future, I am sure. Now they’re intensively tested and prepared to common and popular usage. In my opinion there will be less accidents than now, because the algorithms are more and more accurate and provide higher and higher security level. I think, this is a matter of not so long time, that we’ll forget about old-fashioned driving we do today. Autonomous cars will allow us to have less stress, more comfortable and safe life. Actually, I hope to benefit this in my life.
2. Anonymous cities this is a trend which will be developed very fast and wide now. There will be more and more anonymous units, not only cities, but districts, settlements, working independently, self-regulating, ecological. Later, such “islands” will be connecting, and then launching to each other, imposing development of the “wholes” remaining. Such first anonymous units we observe in the world are the first steps in this 5G process – as the procedure has started, the next actions are unavoidable and the effect will be amazing – the globally connected system, consisting of sub-islands, working according to our will – together or separately, being switched-in and switched-off.
3. 5G will allow new suppliers, because there will be no excuse. Otherwise people will create system competitive to 5G. The need of common cooperation will be imposed accordingly to the mentioned above scenario’s progress. Either 5G and suppliers will work together, or they will not work at all. The effort and a lot of activities are to be made by both sides, but this is the decision moment, it will not happen twice.
4. Launching to 5G will cause exponential growth of the suppliers’ profits. In my opinion it will definitely change the financial picture of such companies. The biggest difficulty is to conquer this current stage and make this huge effort to achieve launching. Many of them give up or do it too slowly, what I understand, because not everybody is able to invest now, having no guarantee even cost return, not thinking about future incomes. Bust as always with brilliant ideas – you consider them as chances or not, you develop them or not, at last – you are the winner in the end, or not.
br, marta
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteYes, I think that the future of transportation is in autonomous vehicles. They can be programmed to maintain fluent traffic, and more economic fuel usage. They will provide safer conveyance, most of road accident are due to human mistake and these could be reduced to a minimum.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
I didn’t hear about autonomous cities, but just as in case of autonomous vehicles, I’m also a fan of autonomous cities. We are using smart home smart, buildings taking fully from this beneficial technology, and this is a step away from autonomous cities
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
AT & T or Verzion are not new companies, they are not known in Europe. But in case of taking 5G market, I think that big companies will adjust to fulfilled new requirements rather than to lose customers.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
It’s depends of what the final performance characteristics will be. If the difference will be significant I think customer will be eager to pay for it, but in other cases average client wont be paying for almost the same as that 4G LTE is offering.
I don't know much about 5G, I've missed most of the hype, and I've heard some criticisms from different angles (e.g. digital exclusion - not everybody has LTE even today, landline telephony and networking will die out, and some people will be left out there in the cold).
ReplyDelete1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
Yes, but 5G will mostly be indoors, so AV need to do without it. With a good authonomy, 4G could be enough anyway.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
You mean exclaves, like Singapore, formerly Hong Kong etc. Or is it a new name for 'smart city' (maybe even smarter than the original)?
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I have no idea, but it may even cause less suppliers (mergers etc.). Introducing 5G is costly and very likely it will be only affordable for large established players in the market.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
I don't know exactly how they make their money today, so I don't know how a new technology may influcence them. The service is not bought directly, but the popularity of devices supporting it may be a factor in decisions about investment in 5G. I know the premise - 5G won't be about providers taking customers from eachother (zero sum game), but about creating entirely new markets. It makes sense on e-paper, but it's basically just a marketing promise (where the marketed goods are e.g. stocks of 5G companies).
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteAutonomous vehicles have been tested for several nice years with greater and lesser success. Of course, such things are waiting for us in the near future. It will become the norm in the same way as automated production lines in factories where man will only supervise the system.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
We can safely say that in Poland we have many cities described as an intelligent city. It is true that currently the biggest problem in these types of cities are funds, as the costs of building and managing the entire infrastructure often exceed the city budget. For small cities, such an investment will not pay off quickly and will not be fully effective. Autonomous cities will develop and other metropolises attached to this group. However, you need a lot of time, the work of engineers and, above all, huge money.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
If I understood the question well, referring to 5G technology, I am afraid that as usual advertising and reality will be excluded. In order to implement 5G, you need to adjust the infrastructure, obtain additional UKE permits on frequencies and prove that 5G will not have a negative impact on your health. In addition, I can not imagine connecting everything to the network and efficient management of it (connecting cities).
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
It is obvious that no company / service provider introduces new technologies just to make us live better. Certainly, novelties will cost us more, but it will not be a big increase in deterring customers. After all, the company must still function and develop its services.
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteI think that autonomus vehicles can work and even now wee have quite good solutions. It is just a metter of time when it will be possible to met such vehicle on the street. I think it's not going to bo so far in time. The competitions in AI is so big that everyone want to be first and they spend a lot of time, effort and mone to creatfaster and better things than a competition.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
Do you mean cities that are self-organized or without citiziens at all? I think both are possible. The first one would be very convinient if working well. Reducet traffic jams and no need to worry about regullations. The second one, cities wothout citiziens may be created for fun, to see how robots etc may behave in real cities.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
It may happen but it is hard to predict the future. The new solutions can bring opportunnities to many companies.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
If thay convince people to chnge devices they can earn money on that. Moreover they will be able to share new services with customers connected to 5G which can bring new opportunites and more profits. For sure they chave to move on and see how they can benefit from that.
1. Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will work and I believe it is the only way to feel safe on the road, especially in Poland, but in here we will need to wait about 15 years to have old autnomous cars imported from Germany :)
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
It is a matter of time, even without 5G, but 5G will make it cheaper and this should speed up everything. Maybe some day Warsaw with autonomous drones will be able to find out who is burning trashes and we will have clean air.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
I hope so, the more competition on the market the better prices we will get and I'm affraid that on the beginning 5G will be really expensive.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
At the beginning profit margin on 5G will be huge to finance the whole infrastructure, but in few years it will go down to normal.
Autonomous vehicles do you think it will work?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know they are currently working pretty well;) In my opinion autonomous vehicles will be more and more popular. They work just fine, the level of dangerousness in case of driving such car is not higher than in case of usual cars. There were a lot of tests before such cars for the first time were send on the streets. They also have really accurate software to maximize proper reactions to different situations which may happen, for example unusual behavior of other drivers. What is more, they are far more comfortable than ordinary cars and, needless to say, they are quite a gadget. So to sum up I am rather convinced that they will work, although I haven’t had an opportunity to drive such car yet.
2. Autonomous cities, we know that they were created, there will be more of them?
Even though I think that the idea of autonomous cities is quite brilliant and farther research on this topic should be carried out, I don’t think that in the nearest future such cities will be build on the wider scale. Unfortunately, from what I read, this is extremely expensive project. As a result of this, there will not be a lot of people, who can afford living in such town, or will be just willing to do so, because there are certainly better ways to spend money. Moreover, creating, and - what’s even more important - maintenance such city, will require a lot of work and advanced technology. And such work must be provided not only by creators and workers of autonomous town, but also -in lower part of course - by residents. All of mentioned reasons - in my opinion - will make functioning such cities really hard to achieve.
3. Will 5G allow new suppliers just like AT & T or Verzion?
If I understand correctly this question, it asks generally will 5G technology open the market for new suppliers. In case of this, my answer is that rather it won’t make it easier for new subjects to start business activity. First of all, implementing this technology will require major changes in current technological solutions. There will be demanded to use new software on the mobile phones. Because of all this it will be rather costly to start selling devices with 5G technology. So I think that main subjects providing this will be companies currently present at the market, which have enough money to do so, and - what is also important - have their client’s trust in their products, so it will be far easier for them to find willing clients for 5G devices.
4. How do you think about how much the profits of suppliers may increase in relation to the launch of 5G?
In my opinion this is the matter which should be considered at the farther steps of implementing this technology. At first, when stage of production needs major changes to carry this technology, there will be mostly expenses for suppliers, and potential profits will not add up to the expenses. Moreover, I am not quite sure, if 5G technology will be such a hit. It will require new device, which equals bigger changes. What’s more, current LTE technology is really good, so it’s not like people would be that thrilled by the possibility of using new technology. Lastly, always new solutions cause some insecurity about how well they will work. Because of mentioned arguments, I don’t think that profits of suppliers will increase, at least not at the beginning.
