Yes I know ... Today is 1st of December 2018 but it's likely that on Monday, December 3, 2018 I will not have access to the Internet, so
Two days ago I read an article by Karl Frederick Rauscher. He is a Bell Labs Fellow, commissioner of the Global Information Infrastructure Commission (GIIC) and serves on numerous governance and strategic advisory boards. An article published on November 26, 2018 regarding threats related to artificial intelligence, robots and big companies that want to launch robots and artificial intelligence on the market. Here is the link ... https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/can-we-avoid-the-potential-dangers-of-ai-robots-and-big-tech-companies/
Accordingly, if ...
1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteTrue sentient AI that is able to reason is far in the future. Machine learning models that need to be trained for some narrow and specific task in my opinion do not need to be afraid off. The sam with robotics, automated assembly line if used for many years and is not causing any threads.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Reasonable people should embrace automation because it is boosting our potential not deny it. Reasonable people should not be afraid of buzzwords and base statements on facts.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
In my opinion situation is not like that pretrained model is better than auditor / financial clerk in fraud detection. Team of data scientists, engineers and subject matter experts is certainly better. Whole thing is not about competition but about opening new opportunities.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
Developments in fields of automation or data science will have significant impact on our world, those already have. Capabilities of robots or pretrained models do not need to be feared of. Human capabilities boosted by new tools will grow as well, but we have our physical limits.
I understand Ewelina that you are very much in charge of the automation of tasks that the devices perform better than people without any objections. Reflecting on this, one could say that already in FSO (such a car factory ;-) ...) people were afraid of automation. And yet it was in the market for a long time!
DeleteDiscussion about similar topics arise quite often on the occasion of overcoming barriers in the field of artificial intelligence.
ReplyDelete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
I think that no one should be afraid of artificial intelligence. Its main purpose (like computers, smartphones...) is to facilitate everyday activities.
I agree that AI in combination with robotics will cause some professions will be history. We have to remembered that the main target is to replace humans in professions which endanger people's health or are heavy. The fact that some jobs will stop exist in a few years will result that employees need to re-qualify for conservators, mechanics and operators (needed for supervision).
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Maybe a little naively, but I believe that artificial intelligence is safer than a human (of course, assuming that there are no unforeseen situations, though even in them sometimes the machine can react better than man due to its speed). Machines never is tired, never had a bad days and don't have emotions which could make us decision unlogical.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
AI will be better...BUT in performing a specific task in a repetitive manner. Our brain is irreplaceable. We can do so many thing at once that any AI couldn't afford for that and it wouldn't change for next many many years. AI only simulate working of ours neurons, but nothing more.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I don't agree. Humans will never stop developing. We have always overcome further barriers and regardless of the level of development of tools (including AI), we will be crossing borders that we do not know yet. All technology is only help to achieve that faster.
Perversely speaking, I also think that people will develop better when machines will catch up or outgrow them. You're right
DeletePredictions about the future ofter run the risk of error. It may be pleasant to read that in 10 years time there will be nothing left to do, but to lay about and enjoy life, but it shouldn't be taken seriously. Probably people from the past would consider most of us to be doing nothing all day, but this does not mean that we reached Eden.
ReplyDelete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
This topic seems to be drummed up from time to time. I think we would need to put more adjectives to make statements about it. Words like "strong", "general", and "evil" come to mind. Before there is a real possibility of developing the ESGAI (Evil Strong General AI), we don't need to worry. However, technological development can have unintended consequences.
2. Should reasonable people be concerned about what robots can cause with their introduction into everyday life?
Probably not. But there are general concerns which include AI and robotics as their component.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
A horse is better than walking, and a car is better than a horse. This is not dangerous for our legs or horses, but it may determine the dominant way o doing things. And this influences resource allocation. Unfortunately, people are sometimes treated as resources in today's economy, so in a sense it is dangerous for people.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
Our capabilities vary a lot, we cannot sustain a guaranteed "intelligence output". Sometimes there are sparks of genius, but generally we're very far from smart, usually just copying what everybody else does. I don't like the idea of transhumanism, but probably self-improvement will mean more than just discipline in the future. Some people argue that we have become cyborgs already (human + smartphone).
Tomek, accurate observations. I think we really have to think about whether we haven't even been cyborgs. And if we come to conclusions that we aren't them, then let's think when we become them.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteI think that most people are afraid that they do not have any idea about it at all. people with some knowledge on this subject, are happy and waiting for the opportunity to use technology for their benefits.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
I think that people from the lowest level should get married because they will be out of work. or they will need to acquire skills and knowledge and to measure more than before, or they will not have anything to live on. People who are worried about it and are at a higher level, such as IT specialists, should not worry about their future. they use the opportunities for their benefit
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
I think that in many activities they can be better, especially when it comes to manual work, eg in factories where a person is constantly doing one thing. you can definitely put a machine that will do it better and faster.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I think that much more emphasis is put on the development of artificial intelligence, which is much bigger budget for development due to the large potential. Especially when it comes to lowering production costs, a higher capital gain. The development of human potential is not so important especially for corporations with a very high budget. I do not think we are on the same level, but we are also developing as people and we are exploring our possibilities, but it seems to be a side development, the technique is mainly important
I read your statement and I understand that you claim that the technique is the most important. This technique will replace us people. Only then will we start functioning at 100% because the robots will work much better than us.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteYes, there are some problematic issues. The author of presented article mentioned several of them, for example AI can compete with our brains and robots can compete with our bodies – in many cases they can beat us handily already. Are these fears justified? In my opinion they are because they interfere with our existence.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Yes, of course. Reasonable people should concern everything that influences their life. Despite everything, I am personally positive about the development of technology. In the end, we create it to make our life easier.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
As the author says, AI and robots can beat us handily already. In physical matters it is obvious: robots do not feel fear, pain, etc. They are stronger in general. Whereas in mental matters, they certainly lack a lot, although their performance is better, for example, they count faster or solve complex problems.
4. Do you agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
Well, generally I agree that robots and AI are getting better and better and their development is much more dynamic than people. However, human being also evolves, adapting to new environmental conditions.
Just this evolution alone means that we are still one step away from AI. Man is constantly developing and improving all his skills. Besides, this artificial intelligence also had to be thought of one day - it wasn't created from nowhere - and this was done by a human being.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteI think that the main point about artifficial inteligence is that people rely on it too much. They take the results of AI algorithm as a ground truth. There may be mistakes in training data and the algoritm may be somehow biased. Moreover advertisements take advantege of AI and they try to sell products as intelligent or powered by AI what sound very attratctive but in fact is nothing better than other things. We should also be aware of the data we share with AI. To sum up I think that we should not be afraid of AI itself but the way it may be used and misunderstood.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
For sure it is resonable to be concern about how robots or anything can influence our life. I think that we should use robots that may change our behaviour or habits with a lot of caution.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
Yes in many cases they may be better but usually the one AI algorithm may bet only one functionallity and with some limits. For example it may be better in distinguishing very simmila objects on a photo faster than a human.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
Not exactly. humanity usually learn new things and adapt to new situations when time passes by. The question is who is faster and what may be the results in a future.
Good question. Who will be faster we or artificial intelligence. I have the impression that, however, as in human versus food - the human still basically wins.

ReplyDelete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteI think not, it seems to me today there is no real artificial intelligence, it works within the limits that programmers ask it. Today, he is unable to think and invent something himself, but only helps to develop an idea that a person asked him.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
For today - definitely not, perhaps fear due to the dissemination of personal data.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
Most likely not today. Is that you are not the driver who will soon replace the autopilot. But this does not replace most of the professions, but today is for sure.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
Perhaps I believe in transhumanism, and there will be some kind of symbiosis between man and technology
It seems to me that today there's no artificial intelligence yet! And what if it's? We may not realize that we are surrounded by robots.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteAt this stage of development, I think that these fears are still unjustified. As people we don't fully understand what intelligence is, so we are still a long time away from creating "real" artificial intelligence.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
They should know what can cause widespread introduction of robots into our lives, in which robots can replace us and help us, and what is out of their reach now. As sensible people, we should thoroughly familiarize ourselves with the topic and then it will turn out that our fears are unjustified at this moment.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
There are certainly many areas in which artificial intelligence and robots are able to work better and more efficiently than us. Robots can work where great precision is required, but also speed of action. Artificial intelligence can replace us in driving, which can reduce the number of accidents to a minimum.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I think that we, as mankind, are also developing all the time. The artificial intelligence that we know may really become better and better with time, but we still have control over it. However, everything can change when someone in an artificial environment creates true intelligence.
Yes, they can replace us in running, but I personally think that only when 5G comes. At 4G, the inertia of decision making is too late in relation to traffic events.

ReplyDelete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I don't think so. Current artificial intelligence models are not advanced enough, so there's no need to be afraid of them. Nevertheless, someday in the future there might appear an articial intellience robot that will be smarter than us and if it falls into the wrong hands, it might turn out dangerous for us.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Reasonable people will accept automation as part of our daily life, as something that makes our lives easier. Televion and radio also raised concerns when they first appeared.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
I bet they can, but is it really so bad?
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
As I already stated above, the artificial intelligence models will improve with time. So there will come certain point when there might appear robots smarter than us.
I hope that the moment when artificial intelligence surpasses us will never come.
DeleteConcerns mentioned in the article are rather implied than explicitly stated so I'm not sure what kind of dangers the author has in mind, but I'm assuming it's: "AI will conquer the world someday".
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not afraid it'll happen in a foreseeable future. Field of General AI (true AI from SF movies) is probably somewhere close to astrology. Real AI models have probably nothing in common with that General AI concept, aren't self aware and cannot reason about our world.
There may be some tasks where such models outperform human, but it's also the case for computer as well, even simple calculator outperforms humans when it comes to calculations (both in speed and accuracy).
I'm sure that AI solutions will be gradually better and number of tasks in which they outperform humans may also grow, but it doesn't mean that mankind will lag behind AI.
I agree. I also hope, as I wrote earlier, that we will always be one step ahead of AI.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteThere are reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics. The author notes in his article that artificial intelligence can surpass us in intelligence and decision making. Robots can become better from us and with the development of technology their limitations will become marginal. On the other hand humans capabilities will remain more or less the same.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
I think that we can work out a solution that will allow for the safe coexistence of artificial intelligence, robots and humans. Solutions should be a help to people not a threat. The development of appropriate security standards, policies and a transparent relationship between people and companies offering AI should make reasonable people not be afraid. They should use technology for the benefit of the world and the future of humans.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
I think that robots can be better than us but not in everything. Technology is moving forward. New solutions make the robot look like a human being and able to show emotions. Robots with AI can do our work faster and better. They can make better decisions. Sometimes you have to make a decision against logic and rules and that robots can't do.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I agree in some extent. Technology is constantly moving forward. Human is also growing but not so fast. Human has some physical limitations that he can not overcome.
I would like to live the day when a robot tears a tear from the eye of an emotion. Maybe my children, but it probably will not work for me.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteWe are on the edge of tomorrow, where AI and robots will probably be everywhere and we are not sure, how this future will look like, so thats why there is a lot of uncertainty and fear, but it is really hard to judge, if these fears are rational. Of course we can see a lot of bad scenarios, where AI will be a reason of our extinction so it could be good to be prepared and avoid some mistakes in future.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
I believe, that we should not be concerned about robots in everyday life - AI is just more precise and better in everyday routine comparing to humans, so from this perspective we will live in safe world, where there will be a lot less car accidents or another catastophes
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
For now AI can compete with human in well known environment, because macines are better on learning from previous experiences, so in this world machine can be a lot better then we are, but there is also a world of totally new things, like science where there is no data about history and everything is buld based on our intuition. Based on currnent AI solution I can't imagine machine to come up with Quantum or relativity teory.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I disagre, that our capabilities will remain at the same level. If we look how World Web change the science world and how faster we are able to develop new things then we can refute thesis, that we remain at the same level. Of course for now biologically we are still the same humans, but I can easly imagine that also this could be changed in near future and we will be able to communicate by thought or our brains will have constant connection to some server where we will be able to store some data and performe some quick computations.
I agree at the present time, AI will not come up with the theory of relativity or anyone else's now-unknown scientific theory. But probably just a little ;-) AI is starting to help us. Take, for example, automatic mowers or vacuum cleaners.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteYes of course. One is that new entities might emerge, wholly autonomous and powerful, totally lacking any supervision from any human or human organization. Something like current Decentralized Autonomous Organizations but idea taken even further. I don't think such entity will be conscious. There is no way to foresee what will those entities do as those has no practical bounds of growth, unlike human structures. I also don't think it'll submit to any regulations.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
I think robots in everyday life (apart from "job life") are introduced by conscious decision, and can be removed at anytime without problems. So I guess there is nothing to worry about.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
Given enough time, I think yes, in almost all activities we'll be surpassed. That would be unfortunate end of capitalist societies, when nobody will have anything of value to offer to the market.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
There might be grounds for expansion of human capabilities by means of using new tools, that would allow to use our brains and muscles in more efficient ways, sort of like bicycle allows to use our legs much more effectively.
And if these "beings" as you defined are so aware that they start to "live" in our everyday life?
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion we shouldn't be afraid of artificial intelligence. We create it ourselves, in the form of machines or algorithms. The artificial intelligence should to choose the best "path" based on the received data and "well" written algorithms. Of course, we are only the human and the quality of our products will confirm to their effective and useful. I don't expect suddenly by the "thinking machines" to take control of the people.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Reasonable people should be interested in what affects their lives. We have a many of services, devices that improve the quality of our lives. Of course, everything should be chosen in a thoughtful way. On the other hand, the development of technology is inevitable and affects our development.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
I think that artificial intelligence will not reach the level of the human brain. In fact, machines in some activities will be better and more accurate than us, but not in everything. I can't imagine a machine that would be better in everything than people.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I believe that the development of AI will affect better quality of robots. However, with the development of AI, human development will continue. People from the beginning of the world have adapted to change and I am convinced that it will be to continue.
And I think that the quality of AI will significantly improve our lives. I hope.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteAccording to Musk, artificial intelligence is a fundamental threat to our existence on a scale that we did not have in the case of car accidents, air accidents, defective medicines or poisoned food. These could have brought a threat to a group of people, but never to the whole humanity.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Perhaps with robots will be the same as with the popular Excel spreadsheet. Its appearance did not make the accountants no longer needed. Likewise, the presence of robots does not necessarily mean that there is no need for human labour. However, its character will certainly change. Repeatable tasks that can be automated will only be carried out by machines. The human domain will remain creative work, requiring inventiveness, unconventional way of thinking, breaking the patterns and routine. It is not a robot for robots, at least at this stage of their development.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
No, because people make decisions under the influence of emotions. The emotional mind is much faster than the rational mind; it takes action without thinking for a moment about what it is doing. The speed of his reaction excludes any reflection or analysis. In the evolutionary process this speed of action was connected with the necessity to make decisions - what to pay attention to.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
At the moment it is simply impossible to create a robot that looks and thinks like a human being. Instead, machines are created which, like humans, can learn. Recognize images or combine facts on the basis of many attempts. But they will not be "beings". Employees in the office will not be replaced by plastic dummies of people.
I don't know if in the age of artificial skin, 3D prints cann't create a robot that will look like a human. I don't discuss with the brain, but with the appearance? Hmm ...
Delete1.Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteYes, there may be a reason to be afraid of AI, but it will be only one reason - people who are creating AI. So, from this point of view we can be afraid of all the inventions that people are creating, and all the people who have a bad intention. But the technology as AI or robots are not a direct threat to us.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
No, I don’t think we should be worried, we are making this kind of innovation to make our lives easier, and better. And if someone has it’s doubts there are not forced to use it. But I also think that in the future AI based technology will be will be as common as oven, refrigerator or vacuum cleaner.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
I think there will be the fields where machine will be better than us, but it doesn’t mean that humans are worth less than them. We shouldn’t compete and compering us to machines. We should learn how to cooperate and use AI potential to make our lives better.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
It only depends on humans. Will they evolve and try to be better than we are now. In my opinion there will be a lot of opportunity for humans to evolve, and take their place in world among robots.
Unless the robots could be a place among people, not people among robots. Such a perverse digression!
Delete1. I think for the time being we have no reason to be afraid of artificial intelligence. The brains of scientists are responsible for the preservation of specific artificial intelligence. People may be afraid of being thoroughly infiltrated when our phone knows everything about us, but we allow ourselves to provide access to our conversations, photos and contacts. People are afraid of artificial intelligence because they can not fully understand it.
ReplyDelete2. The robots are slowly entering our everyday life, but not in the form we would imagine. Smart TV, smartphones, etc. They are like small robots that are with us every day and we use their functions every day. The appearance of humanoid robots would probably raise some criticism in some areas of society, but I think that we would get used to them quickly and use their help in the same way we use a computer or telephone.
3. There are many areas where artificial intelligence is more accurate and better than us. However, we should not worry about it, there are still professions in which artificial intelligence can not replace a man quickly. In addition, if in a factory we have machines that replace people, then some man has to supervise, program and service them.
4. We're all evolving. In the case of artificial intelligence, this evolution can be clearer and faster because it is not limited by our human body. I think that if we hooked our brain directly to a high-performance robot, it would not withstand the computing power that our brain can get, but maybe that's just what I think :)
With our phone, facebook account and many other social networking sites we have a lot of problems in today's world. But it only depends on us what our phone will know about us.
Delete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteNowadays, the artificial intelligence and robotics are getting more and more developed and popular. Recently, I participated in very interesting lecture where the man from Intel company told about the influence of the artificial intelligence people's life. I think that the artificial intelligence and robotics have a positive influence for now. This technology allows to automatize some processes and to obtain better and more accurate results than humans are able to perform. The artificial intelligence is widely used in various fields: from medicine to entertainment. We do not know what it will be in the future. Misuse of artificial intelligence may lead unpredictable and possibly dangerous situations but avoiding AI may cause . There is a possibility that some people will lose their jobs because robotics will able to perform their tasks but there will be some new jobs and people always find their place in life! In my opinion there are no reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
In my opinion the reasonable people should not be afraid about what robots can cause in their everyday life. There are more advantages than disadvantages with appliance robots in everyday life. They can perform more activities which take a long time for human. A human is only a human and can make mistakes in contrast to robots with AI which have for example 99,9% accuracy. I think that the reasonable appliance of robots allows to improve the level of life. People should not to be worried about their jobs, as I mentioned in the answer for the question number 1, there will be new jobs which will be related to AI.
3.Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
In my opinion AI and robots can compete with us. Furthermore, I think that the robots will be more effective than human‘s brain. The robots make less mistakes than emotional humans. A machine will perform some activities better and faster than humans. It does not mean that we do not need human brains but the proper use of AI allows to obtain better results and the human will get involved in more complex activities.
4.You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I agree with this statement. Artificial intelligence is becoming the essential part of our life, we can observe it in social media where one can find some ”suggested ads” . The robots equipped with AI will be increasingly more accurate, effective and will be applied in solving progressively more complicated problems. Human capabilities will increase as well, however in some areas robot will be far ahead. The more experience, the more capabilities will humans have but a human never will be a robot.
Yes, but these emotions cause people to be more important than "blunt" robots that only do what they have been programmed for. Of course, I have deep neural networks in the back of my head, but they learn and don't make decisions. Fortunately, they don't have emotions.
ReplyDelete1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, we should be concerned about the companies because their primary interest is to maximise profits for their shareholder, and we should not be afraid the technology itself.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
I think that reasonable people should be concerned about what may be unleashed with the introduction of AI and robotics.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
Yes, but in many cases- they cannot (for example abstract thinking is still out of their reach).
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
I do not agree, part of the robotics industry is responsible for human body enhancement. For example, nanorobotics, that could extend our capabilities of thinking and immunity for diseases.
1. Are there reasons to be afraid of artificial intelligence and robotics and are they justified?
ReplyDeleteFor sure there are some aspects in relation to AI and robotics, which can be considered as some threat. When we are speaking about high technology, and there is no doubt that this is the case here, a lot of things in the process of developing it may go wrong. It can sometimes have repercutions. For example, in relation to AI, even the small error may cause unpredictable behaviour of such technology, such as in electric cars – they depend on the AI and on the programmed ways to behave in described situations – so when there is an error, it can even lead to car accidents.
2. Reasonable people should be concerned about what can cause robots with their introduction into everyday life?
Reasonable poeple, as I stated above, should have concerns when the high technology is on stake. Robots are not yet common in everyday life, but it may differs few years from now. We can not predict exactly how it will work and all of the problems it may cause. But I don’t think that this can be seen as a reason to stop the proccess of developing robots and usage of it in everyday life. Considering pros and cons of mentioned introduction, I think the pros are moer important – especially because it will ease everyday life.
3. Artificial intelligence can compete with our brains, and robots can compete with the activities we do, and maybe in many cases they can be better than us?
As it was said in the described article, it is obvious that at some fields robots and AI may be better than the actual humans. For example they are generally emotionless, so it can eliminate the mistakes based on the emotional attitude, which is very common in relation to people’s behaviour. Moreover, robots won’t get tired, may work instantly for several days, even longer. So basically on some point the statement is true – they can be better than us, but only because we create them that way.
4. You agree that the more time passes, the better will be the robots equipped with artificial intelligence, while our own capabilities will rather remain at the same level?
It is possible, that robots may be equipped with AI and therefore , as I said above, be at some field better than us. But first of all – it is the case with all the technologies, it is the crucial element of new technologies to develop them and make them better and better. Secondly, human’s capabilities also are improving, and what’s even more important – development of an AI and robots depends on people’s abilities and willness, so I don’t think that it is something which should make us worried.
People talk about the danger of AI, if it is going to harm humans—I think that kind of argument is really overhyped. I do think sometimes we get carried away and start to think about sentient machines—machines that are just going to understand everything the way that we do and totally interact with us like a human. I think that stuff is pretty far away. And a lot of the scare mongering around AI taking over the world, AI doing all of these things that are negative aspects of the technology that we don’t control, I think these are a little bit overwrought.
ReplyDeleteOur present understanding of AI is only as good as how we understand ourselves. People have been talking about AI being a potential threat to humanity since the term was coined decades ago. Yes, we can build deep, complex algorithms that appear to reason and come to conclusions. Done quickly enough this can resemble thought or arrive at solutions in ways that we didn't expect or predict. But they are still algorithms that function according to the rules we provide. No more and no less. I think many people are fear-mongering and simplifying a future we don't even understand and have no idea how to create. Or even know if it is possible. So I think reasonable people have nothing to fear of.
The problem with talking about AI is no one can define it. Even if we create armed drones with autonomous weapons capability, they are still machines. They are not life. They can't reproduce, they can't reason beyond the parameters we give them even if they do things we don't expect.
Until we can understand our own minds be able to know what makes us intelligent human beings, unique and exceptional - no matter how complex, brilliant or amazing our creations, AI will never be a threat, pushing us to develop new capabilities or to change our nature.
