  1. Hello all, I see that I'll be the first one.
So, my name is Dawid (as you can see :) ) and decided to continue education because "why the hell not?". Ok let us be serious. I'm fascinated with augmented reality. This technology was my topic during my masters and I decided that I want to continue it.
It is yet too early for me to decide what part of AR I want to work on, but - at the moment - I think that I will focus on special AR googles.

  2. Hi everyone. My name is Paweł (sorry if I sound like at an AA support group meeting).
I decided to continue my education in order to be able to do something interesting after years of doing boring work.
My main fields of interest are NLP and machine learning but it's too early to tell what exactly I will be working on and how. I hope to be able to make more specific plans soon.

  4. Hello everybody, my name is Tomasz.
Why I decided to continue my education? That's not very easy question for me, but main reason of my involvement in education was my boring work :-D. By the day I work with databases (mostly Oracle sometimes NOSQL) and with data itself (recommendation systems).
It was great at the beginning, but now it's really boring and annoying. So I want to change this state and follow my passion for music. My main field of interest will be generative music (algorithmic composition) or similar field connected with sound or ML.

  5. Welcome everybody!

I'm Peter Gzik. My decision about education wasn’t simple. Now I have 4 months baby and so little time to doing something else except work and home but I was wondering about my future and future for my family and after that I decided to continue my education. I think it is possible to upgrade my skills, potential and develop my knowledge. I’m specialist in Windows and OS X Servers but now I would like to do something more with data security or projects management.

  9. Hello everyone :) My name is Julia Wilczyńska. In my work (I work in commerce) I reached a certain level of stability so I decided to continue my education as an investment in self-development. During my PhD I would like to focus on Social Informatics. I find it interesting that modern technologies are influencing our behavior and we can actually use them to modulate desired behavior - for example in commerce, environmental protection or psychology. Those three subjects are areas of my interest and I would like to find a subject related to one of them.

  11. Hello Everybody :)
Similar to the this is not an easy question for me. I think in my case there were many factors that prompted me to start PhD study. One of the main reason has been similar to the one stated by . Also, when thinking about the future, I believe the most important is to develop my skills and knowledge. Besides, I would like to learn new things like Management skills, Machine Learning and Big Data mining. On top of this, I believe that getting PhD degree will promote my commercial profile and get me better chance for a more interesting job. I would like to find a job that I like rather than one I just need to survive; it’s all about the personal choices in life and pursuing my dreams.

  20. My name is Paweł Dyda and I am an expert in Software Globalization (that is Internationalization and Localization). Professionally I'll be (starting next Monday) regular Java programmer.
I prefer not to reveal what motivated me to take on Ph.D. journey. Well, maybe just one: I am very into Machine Learning and its applications and I would like to be a professional researcher in this area in the future.
Obviously, my research would be related to ML. I would like to create a system for automatically index genealogical metrical books. This would touch many ML areas, such as Computer Vision, (Multilingual) Natural Language Processing and Handwriting Recognition. I don't have very specific plans on how to do that at the moment, although I realize that it would take a lot of passion and hard work.

    Kind regards,
    Paweł.

  29. Hi, My name is Przemek. I started engineering studies in PJATK in 2009. This year I got a master's degree and began to consider the continuation of my education in PJATK.

First of all, before I started studies in PJATK I took a lot of battles without success in study (true.. shame on me). I always really love to learn information technology but I do it in my specific ways. So when I started engineering studies in PJATK I found out that’s its meets my expectations. What I really like is that I can work with and learn from really smart people. That was one of reasons to continue studying.

Education at the same time gives me opportunities for further development. An example? Well.. I don’t have possibility to use my English every day so for me it’s also a new challenge. yes I can imagine that for many of you this is nothing new. so btw. poke me for my mistakes, please. I started to consider my PhD in making queries in Google Translate ;)

What else.. My current job will not be helpful in finding areas of research so it can be hard to start, I guess. Now my private main fields of interest are: It Security and Programming Language but now I don’t have an idea which part I will have pleasure to work on. I believe make more specific plans soon. Once more... I’m glad that I can continue my study and do PhD with you. The information meeting last Friday let me think in little new way about PhD too I think. We will see what will be next. Have a nice day.

    Regards, Przemek

  30. Good evening.
My name is Emilia Zawadzka and as all of us I am first year PhD student. I also work as software engineer, my specialty is business intelligence, but from some time I am more interested in big data, data mining and neural networks then databases. I decided to continue my education, because it gives me possibilities to develop myself in these fields.
I haven't fully decided which topic will I choose as the main subject for my PhD research, but I always wanted to work on IT and medicine connection, so maybe that will be it.
And of course it is nice to be back at school where I got my master's degree.

    Best regards,
    Emilia

  31. Hi,
My name is Mikolaj, I'm system analyst and designer. I specialize in enterprise application integration and business process management systems. I decided to continue my education mainly to get tickets for a half price. Self-improvement is also important. :)
I would like to research nature inspired artificial intelligence algorithms. For the upcoming couple of months the plan is to read some scientific articles on current state of the art in this discipline and to try to determine bibliography for further reading.
I also want to learn how to use some software tools (frameworks and libraries) supporting AI research.
    Kind Regards,
    msz.

  32. Good morning I am Piotr Wójcik and I am specializing in Neural Networks.
Well also I have learnt plenty of computer languages and I think that it can be my another specialization. I'm advanced computer Nerd with long IT background but fortunately I don't look like one of them. (Years of camouflage wisdom) Recently I gather lot of knowledge about databases. I've got lot of corporation experience but right know I'm trying to change my priorities in my young life which actually is stable and balanced. The question: Why I'm doing PhD? If I don't do it in few years I won't have a time in my life to achieve this title.

  33. Hi Everyone

My name is Albert and I'm 2nd year Phd student. I'm living in Sopot and working as Software Engineer in 3-city.

Area of interest of my current research are particular human brain computation models.

I'm also trying to promote the idea that human brain is the Information System.

We already have cloned the concept of neural networks so we are able artificially translate signal to the meaning almost exactly as brain does. This is great thing but I guess this is only the beginning of whole story and there is still lot of wonders to understand scientifically.

  34. Hello,

My name is Marcin. I just started PhD studies. I work on as programmer, IT administrator and academic tutor. Doing all those things means, that basically I already live on our university. Usually, you can meet me trying to resolve some complex administrative issues in room 208 (BSS) :)

Beside my IT - associated interests (databases, programming and security stuff), I spend most of my free time on sport activities. I used to be a professional swimmer till second year of Bachelor studies, now I hold the position of president of PJAIT Academic Sport Association Club.

I'm not sure about my area of study yet, probably it will be something associated with information security in medium-sized organizations (like PJAIT).

    Regards,
    Marcin

  35. Hi everyone,

I’m Tomasz Rutkowski. Since 2012 I’ve been focused on building my own software company called Senfino. As for now we are the team of 30 specialists. I finished my MBA this year. I’m trying to constantly develop my management and IT skills. I decided to continue my education and start PhD studies because I want to devote next few years to recommender systems. I could do that on my own without participating any academia program but I prefer to learn in structured manner and together with great people! ;-) During my research I’d like to experiment a lot and publish results but my main goal is to conduct “research that matters”. Therefore, I will try to use my business knowledge to fulfill both – academia and industry expectations.

    Best regards!

    Tomek
